After being consultant to a prestigious Mayfair hair salon, the first Philip Kingsley Trichological Clinic opened in London in 1960. In response to demand for the service in America the Philip Kingsley Trichological Centre opened in New York in 1977. In 1992, by special invitation, a Philip Kingsley treatment centre was established at Harrods in London.
These clinics provide a service encompassing both the medical and cosmetic issues relating to scalp and hair health. Each clinic is dedicated to providing expert advice and treatment for all types of hair loss and scalp problems, as well as hair problems from chemical damage to simply difficult, dull or limp hair. At the Philip Kingsley clinic we understand the distress that scalp and hair disorders, and hair loss in particular, can cause. There are 8 qualified consultant trichologists including Philip Kingsley, all registered members of the Institute of Trichologists. There is a GMC registered doctor employed by the clinic, and highly trained clinical therapists.
Our clinic has sponsored many research projects related to hair loss and hair loss treatment, both in the UK and the United States, the results of which have been published in a number of leading journals. A thorough examination of the scalp and hair is carried out and a detailed history taken. At Philip Kingsley we adopt a holistic approach to all problems, investigating general health, family history, nutrition, lifestyle and other relevant factors.
treatment
Most scalp and hair complaints can be treated in our clinics, or by the use of our clinical prescription products at home for those who cannot attend regularly. Clinical treatment can include the application of scalp and hair creams, steam, scalp massage, infra red, radiant heat or ultra violet light therapy. All treatments are individually prescribed, depending upon what is required. It may be that the cosmetic appearance only needs to be improved. Complaints such as hair loss and scalp problems are thoroughly investigated. Often there is a combination of problems to address. Blood tests are frequently required and in some cases we may liaise with your doctor or other specialist.
