Ah, spring is finally here (well, almost!). If you find yourself self-isolating right now, this is the perfect time to do some spring cleaning and sprucing up around your home.
As for your hair care regime, we bet that could use a spring clean too. Is it time to add a new product? Swap some out? Or take a closer look at whether your current products are right for you? Here are our tips to put a spring back into lacklustre hair…
Reassess Your Shampoo and Conditioner
If you are not quite content with how your hair is looking, feeling or behaving, then the culprit may well be your shampoo or conditioner. You’d be surprised at how often our Trichologists encounter this issue during Consultations with clients!
Make sure you choose a shampoo that suits your hair texture – not your hair’s condition. So, look for products (such as Philip Kingsley ones) with labels like Fine, Medium, Coarse or Natural Coiled Curls.
Meanwhile, avoid products that are labelled according to your hair’s condition, such as ‘dry’, ‘normal’ or ‘oily’. These categories are misleading. Your hair may be dry at the ends and oily at the roots. It may be fine, limp and dry, or coarse, voluminous and dry. How you treat each of these conditions depends first and foremost on your hair’s texture.

A Scalp Toner Could Be Just the Tonic…
A healthy scalp is vital to healthy hair growth – so try adding a scalp toner to your regime. They’re super quick, easy and extremely effective. After washing your hair, all you need to do is apply one with the nozzle, then leave it in and let the key ingredients get to work.
Here at Philip Kingsley, we have two specially formulated toners, each targeting a different scalp issue with immediate effect.
Our Flaky/Itchy Scalp Toner soothes, reduces irritation and keeps flakes and dandruff at bay.
Our Stimulating Daily Scalp Toner cools and revitalises, helping to support growth.

Mask and Relax
Scalp masks have been growing in popularity recently, and for good reason. They’re amazing at giving your scalp a health-boost and a deep clean – both of which encourage healthy hair growth.
At Philip Kingsley, we’ve been extolling the virtues of masks for years. Our range now includes four, each specially formulated by our Trichologists, and each offering different scalp benefits.
Whichever you choose, apply it to your scalp in sections, leave it for 10-20 minutes while you read a book or stick dinner in the oven, then massage it in and shampoo it out.
