How to Care for Blonde Hair During Social Distancing

And we totally understand! The fact is, having hair you’re happy with is just as important during social distancing as it is during normal times. Because even while you’re stuck at home, your hair still plays a huge part in your self-esteem.

But try not to worry: we’re here to help. At Philip Kingsley, our Trichologists have developed shampoos and masks specifically aimed at brightening, prolonging and nourishing blonde colour-treated hair. We also have a range of styling products specially formulated to help your strands stay healthy – so you don’t need to worry about dry or tired-looking locks while waiting for the salon to reopen.

Below, check out our experts’ top products and advice for prolonging your blonde colour at home.

Pure Blonde/Silver Brightening Daily Shampoo and Conditioner

Using a colour-enhancing shampoo and conditioner on a daily basis will help keep your highlights looking radiant for longer. We love our Pure Blonde/Silver range. The products are formulated with optical brighteners and hair-healthy moisturizing ingredients. They’re also gentle enough for everyday use. And they’ll leave your hair soft, shiny, and infused with a light lavender scent.

Pure Blonde Booster Weekly Shampoo & Mask

Once a week, your blonde colour will really benefit from a deep refresh. Our amazing new shampoo and mask duo provides just that. These products are packed with newly discovered pigments, which reverse the effects of damage and decolouration, and correct brassy yellow tones. They also minimise frizz and provide a wonderfully soft, glossy finish. Just make sure you only use them once a week, to avoid purple tones!

Bond Builder Split End Remedy

Our new, sell-out serum immediately seals split ends, and strengthens your hair to help prevent them in the future. This will help keep your blonde locks looking fresh while you’re waiting for a trim. Bond Builder also minimizes break-off hairs and frizz. What’s more, it heat protects up to 220 degrees, helping you get that smooth, salon-styled look you might be craving.

Elasticizer

If you have colour-treated blonde hair, chances are it will get dry easily. To keep it soft and supple, we recommend using a hair mask, like our hero product Elasticizer, 2-3 times per week. Elasticizer will deep-condition and hydrate your strands, rendering them smooth and shiny. It’ll also minimise breakage, split ends and frizz. If you love our cult product, you'll love it in our other fragrances.

Daily Damage Defence

Colour-treated blonde hair tends to easily become brittle and dry. So even if you’re not going out much right now, your hair still needs protection. Daily Damage Defence, our spray-on, leave-in conditioner, is formulated to give you all the protection you need. It detangles, shields your strands from UV rays, and seals your cuticle to prevent damage from weather and pollution. It also leaves your hair soft and shiny, with a refreshing floral fragrance.

Is it too risky to try and fix my roots at home?

The truth is, it’s always a bit risky to go for a DIY root fix, especially if you haven’t done it before. You might have trouble matching your previous colour. And if you’re not careful, you could end up with breakage or dryness. However, if your roots are really starting to plague you, you could give it a try. There are plenty of good at-home touch-up products out there. A temporary fix, like Josh Wood’s concealer sprays and markers, is the safest bet. If you’re set on permanent colour, you could try a high-quality product like Clairol Nice ‘n’ Easy. Whichever product you choose, be sure to follow the instructions carefully in order to prevent damage to your hair and/or scalp. If you are using permanent colour, always do a ‘patch test’ in advance.
