FINASTERIDE

A powerful, highly effective oral treatment widely recognised to help prevent hair loss.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Finasteride helps to prevent, maintain and possibly reverse the effects of Male Pattern Hair Loss by blocking the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (more commonly known as DHT) which is the primary hormone that causes hair loss in men.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT?

Finasterade should maintain hair levels, slow or stop hair loss and in some cases may regrow some hair, regardless of your specific hair loss pattern. This treatment works best on mild to moderate hair thinning, which is why it’s important to start treating hair loss as soon as you notice the first signs.

HOW DO I TAKE IT?

Take one tablet per day. It’s important to remember to be patient and keep up your course of treatment — your hair loss won’t stop immediately, and results are normally seen around three to six months after beginning a Finasteride treatment plan.

MINOXIDIL

A topical scalp drop solution widely used to treat male pattern hair loss.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Minoxidil works by shortening the telogen (shedding) phase and prolonging the anagen (growth) phase of the hair growth cycle. This ultimately helps to keep hair in place for longer and may promote new growth from dormant (kenogen) follicles.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT?

Studies have shown that over two thirds of patients with male pattern baldness saw an improvement in hair growth.

HOW DO I TAKE IT?

Consistency is key with this treatment. 2ml should be applied to the affected areas of the scalp every day. We suggest applying this treatment at night before bed and shampooing the hair and scalp the following morning. Daily washing is imperative to prevent Minoxidil from building up on the scalp and reducing the effectiveness of the ingredients.

HOW DOES FINASTERIDE WORK?

Finasteride works by inhibiting the production of type 2 5α-Reductase, an enzyme that converts the body’s testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (more commonly known as DHT). DHT is the primary hormone responsible for causing hair loss in men. Some men are more sensitive to DHT than others, which is why not everyone begins to lose their hair at the same time, or the same speed. Hair loss can start at the hairline, crown or on top of the head. The area in which you start to lose your hair is determined by genetics. In some men, the hair around their hairline is most sensitive to DHT, while in others, the area around the crown will begin to thin first.

Minoxidil works as a vasodilator, meaning it dilates (widens) blood capillaries at the site of application. This yields an ideal growth environment for existing hair follicles. Whilst its exact mode of action is still not fully understood, it works by decreasing the amount of time hair follicles spend in their resting (telogen) phase, as well as prolonging time spent actively growing (the anagen phase), leading to an increase in hair length. It can also help promote growth from dormant (kenogen) follicles. Minoxidil does not combat the effects of DHT on hair follicles, therefore it is most effective when used in combination with a topical antiandrogen.

The most effective treatments for Male Pattern Hair Loss are oral Finasteride and topical Minoxidil. Finasteride works by reducing DHT, the hormone that causes follicle shrinkage, while Minoxidil helps stimulate the growth phase of the hair cycle. For many men, a combination of both provides the best results.

Not always. Hair loss treatments work best in the early stages of hair thinning, and effectiveness can vary based on genetics and the pattern of hair loss. They may not be suitable for everyone, so a consultation is recommended to find the right approach for your hair and scalp needs.

Both Finasteride and Minoxidil are generally well tolerated, but side effects are possible. Finasteride may cause side effects in a small number of men, while Minoxidil can sometimes lead to scalp irritation or initial shedding as the hair cycle resets. It's important to use these treatments under guidance and to read the full patient information leaflets above before starting a treatment plan.
